Using Stained Glass Sun Catchers to Enhance a Room
With practically no effort, you can enhance the beauty of a room by using stained glass sun catchers. Frequently
called light catchers, they are based on a very simple concept. When placed in a room where they will be struck by
sunlight, the colors in the glass capture the sunlight and project a glowing effect. Stained glass sun catchers are
most commonly made to hang in the window in order to maximize the sunlight’s effect. However, there is no reason
that they cannot be fixed table top or window sill objects. Typically, they are small but, again, it is not always
the case. They come in many sizes, color schemes and themes.
Stained glass sun catchers made of genuine stained glass are generally considered the best. It
is said that their effect is more dramatic. However, less expensive substitutes made from painted glass, or even
colored plastic, are available. In fact, largely because of the cost, these substitutes are quite commonly
available. Being more affordable, they are very popular and readily available.
Painted glass and plastic sun catchers are obviously mass produced. Stained glass sun catchers can be custom
designed and hand made, or they can also be mass produced. You can find the mass produced versions in many stores
but you may have to look a little harder to find custom made examples. Of course, the mass produced stained glass
sun catchers are far less expensive, although still effective, even if not so unique.
Stained glass sun catchers are not limited to the inside of your home. With a little creative
thinking, you can use them as decorations for a bird house, for example. They make excellent wind chimes as the
motion of the chime causes the color patterns to change. Consider an upright version mounted on a stick in the
garden. Imagination, and of course sunlight, are the only limiting factors. If you think about it a little, you
will no doubt come up with many possibilities.
Stained glass sun catchers can set your home’s d?cor apart from others without a lot of effort.
To make good use of them you do not need to have any special decorating talent, just a little imagination. Indoors
or outdoors, just as long as there is sunlight, they enhance the ambiance of any surrounding without necessarily
costing too much in the process. If you haven’t considered adding stained glass sun catchers to your home, now is a
good time to do it.
